REPUBLIC BANK CPL 2024 GENERATES US$23.3 MILLION ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR BARBADOS

The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) delivered a substantial economic boost to Barbados in 2024, contributing a total impact of US$23.3 million—a 6% increase on the impressive results recorded in 2023. This continued growth highlights the CPL’s critical role in driving tourism and stimulating economic activity across Barbados and the wider Caribbean.

In 2024, four CPL matches were hosted in Barbados, complemented by a variety of tourism-driven initiatives, including the debut of the Beach Cricket Blast. The comprehensive economic impact study, conducted by GSIQ, CPL’s official Media and Sponsor Evaluation Partner, measured the combined effects of organizer and attendee spending, as well as the significant media value generated by showcasing Barbados to a global audience via broadcast and social media channels.

Pete Russell, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League was delighted with the results:

“Barbados is a truly special destination, and everyone at CPL cherishes the opportunity to spend time on this incredible island. To not only promote Barbados as a world-class tourist destination but also deliver meaningful economic value is immensely rewarding, especially off the back of a successful World Cup.”

The CPL’s ability to draw international attention continues to position the tournament as a powerful catalyst for economic activity and tourism growth in the Caribbean. Barbados, in particular, continues to benefit from increased visitor expenditure, enhanced media visibility, and strengthened global recognition.
