PETE RUSSELL TO STEP DOWN AS CEO
Following another hugely successful Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, which featured the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons winning their first trophy, CPL announces that Pete Russell, who was part of the original founding team of CPL, has decided to step back from his current full-time role of Chief Executive Officer.
CPL evolved from an ambitious start-up concept into one of the most successful, highly regarded T20 cricket tournaments globally and a fan centric world-class sporting and entertainment product. CPL has an experienced and dedicated management team in place and Pete will remain in place until a new CEO is appointed and will continue to support the Board and leadership team.
In the last year, the Group has expanded to 7 franchise teams, launched its own production company (Live and Louder Productions), its own linear TV channel (Rush Live & Louder), a streaming app and an events business. The Board and Management are excited about the future of the business, further opportunities and the continued growth and success of the tournament.
Commenting on Pete's contribution to CPL over the past 14 years, Chairman Richard Bevan OBE, said: ‘On behalf of the Board and everyone across CPL, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Pete for his leadership, commitment, and contribution during his tenure as CEO.
Denis O’Brien, owner and founding investor of CPL, said: ‘Pete has been a fantastic leader of CPL and overseen its expansion into new areas including Media and Events over recent years. While we are naturally sad to see him step away from his current role as CEO, we are delighted that the business is poised for future growth and Pete will remain involved as part of the wider group.’

It has been the privilege of a lifetime to be part of this journey.’
