REPUBLIC BANK CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE PARTNERS WITH JOMBOY MEDIA TO DRIVE CRICKET GROWTH IN THE USA

Today, the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) announced a partnership with Jomboy Media, the creator-led sports media company behind some of the most widely shared and talked-about sports content today, to accelerate cricket's breakthrough in the United States.

This partnership brings together CPL's world-class T20 product and Jomboy Media's proven ability to build community around sport at a pivotal moment for cricket in the U.S., with fans across North America tuning into the 2026 T20 World Cup, and cricket returning to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028 for the first time in 128 years. The collaboration will focus on producing original creator-led content designed to make cricket more accessible, entertaining, and highly shareable, with a particular focus on reaching and building new American audiences.

Jomboy Media has earned a global reputation for transforming key sporting moments into must-watch content, using its signature style of slowing plays down, breaking them apart, and explaining what really happened, uniquely resonating across generations and fanbases. Now home to three of the most listened-to baseball podcasts in the world - Talkin' Baseball, Talkin' Yanks, and Baseball Today - and a community of over 35 million Jomboy Media has expanded into cricket, driven by Founder Jimmy "Jomboy" O'Brien's deep passion for the sport and a conviction that the same approach that built baseball fandom can bring the world's second most-watched sport into the U.S. mainstream.

That expansion is already well underway. From Jomboy's commentary role at the ICC 2024 T20 World Cup, to the launch of That's Cricket featuring former England international and 2019 Cricket World Cup champion Liam Plunkett and creator Adam Bannon, to partnering with Willow TV during the 2026 T20 World Cup to bring a free, creator-led livestream to millions of Americans experiencing the sport for the first time, a partnership with CPL is the natural next step to bring more of the Jomboy Media community into the world of cricket.

The partnership has been facilitated by Willow TV, the leading cricket broadcaster in North America , whose forward-thinking and innovative approach recognises the value of creator-led content in building deeper engagement and expanding the sport’s reach across North America.

This partnership represents a significant step in CPL’s ongoing strategy to expand its global footprint, particularly in the United States, where interest in the sport continues to rise ahead of cricket’s return to the Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028.

Francois Vainker, CPL’s Head of Media Partnerships and Business Development, said:

“We are incredibly excited about what Jomboy Media can create using the CPL archive, as well as content generated during the 2026 season. Interest in CPL and in cricket more broadly has grown rapidly in the United States over recent years, and we are confident this momentum will continue as we build towards the sport’s reintroduction at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

“We would like to thank Willow TV for their support in making this partnership possible, and we look forward to seeing the innovative content the Jomboy Media team will produce in the months and years ahead.”

"It is an unrivalled time for cricket in the U.S. We saw over 2.6 million views across our platforms during the T20 World Cup – that’s millions of Americans who were introduced to the sport for the first time. One thing is clear: our community wants more, and CPL is the perfect partner to deliver on that," said Courtney Hirsch, CEO, Jomboy Media. "Rights holders and leagues are coming to us because they know we can do for their sport what we've done for baseball: build real fandom from the ground up, by making the sport accessible, fun, and impossible to look away from. CPL has built such excitement and energy around cricket and we couldn't ask for a better partner, or a better moment, to continue to fuel U.S. fandom for the sport, especially with the sport’s epic return to the 2028 LA Olympics.”
