MASSY WCPL 2024 RECORDS STRONG VIEWERSHIP NUMBERS

The 2024 Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) delivered its highest ​ viewership since the tournament began, as Barbados Royals retained their title. Held from 21 to 28 August at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, the event showcased thrilling competition and talent from around the World, including leading Indian players for the first time.

 This year’s tournament amassed a total broadcast and digital viewership of 34.5 million, a 54% increase year on year, underscoring the growing appeal of women’s cricket in the region. The final showdown between the Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders—played in front of a vibrant crowd—emerged as the most-watched match of the season.

 Featuring the best female cricketers from the Caribbean and around the world, the seven-match competition was packed with outstanding performances. Stars like Hayley Matthews, Shikha Pandey, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deandra Dottin, and Chamari Athapaththu delivered electrifying cricket.

 Pete Russell, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League, expressed his enthusiasm about the tournament’s growth:

ABOUT THE CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE

First started in 2013, the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is a franchise-based T20 format cricket tournament that combines two of the most compelling aspects of Caribbean life – dramatic cricket and a vibrant Carnival atmosphere. The 2025 tournament took place from 14 August to 21 September.
