REPUBLIC BANK CPL DELIVERS US$25.8MILLION FOR BARBADOS IN 2025

The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) generated a total event impact of US$25.8 million for Barbados during the 2025 tournament, according to an independent Economic Impact Assessment conducted by GSIQ.

The CPL matches in Barbados in 2025 delivered a direct economic impact of US$14.7 million, alongside US$11.1 million in international media value promoting Barbados to a global audience. Combined, this represents an 11% year-on-year increase in total event impact compared to 2024.

A total of 31,545 fans attended matches in Barbados, a 16% increase on 2024, with 3,996 international visitors travelling to the island for the tournament. Visiting supporters stayed an average of 5.9 nights and contributed significantly to the local economy, driving US$9.9 million in attendee spending across accommodation, food and beverage, travel, activities and retail.

CPL’s direct investment into Barbados also continued to grow. In 2025, the tournament spent US$3million locally, creating 129 new jobs, investing US$911,000 with local suppliers, and generating more than 2,300 hotel room nights. Spending in Barbados has increased year-on-year, with the 2025 competition representing the highest level of investment to date.

Beyond direct financial impact, Barbados benefited from extensive international exposure. The tournament generated US$11.1 million in media value, including US$10.8 million from broadcast coverage alone, with India emerging as the single most valuable international market. Barbados Tourism Marketing branding featured prominently across global broadcasts, social media and digital press platforms.

Pete Russell, CEO of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, said:

“Barbados continues to be one of the standout destinations on the CPL calendar. Delivering an event impact of US$25.8 million demonstrates the powerful role the CPL plays in supporting tourism, creating jobs and driving meaningful economic activity. The growth we’ve seen in 2025 reflects the strong partnership we have built in Barbados and the passion of the fans who make the tournament so special. With the CPL finals taking place in Barbados in 2026 this figure will be even higher this year.”
