CPL GENERATES SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR ST KITTS & NEVIS IN 2024

The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) delivered a hugely significant economic impact for St Kitts & Nevis in 2024, contributing an impressive US$16.9 million to the local economy, a 15% increase over the previous year’s results. This substantial growth once again highlights CPL’s pivotal role in boosting tourism and economic development across the twin-island federation and the wider Caribbean.
Five CPL matches were staged at the iconic Warner Park in 2024, with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots hosting the opening leg of the tournament. The high-energy start helped set the tone for another thrilling season, drawing fans and visitors from across the region and beyond.
The impact assessment, conducted by GSIQ, CPL’s official Media and Sponsor Evaluation Partner, evaluated the economic contributions of organizer and attendee spending as well as the significant media value generated by showcasing St Kitts & Nevis to a global audience through television and digital platforms.
Pete Russell, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League, shared his enthusiasm for the results:
“The passion for CPL in St Kitts & Nevis has always been extraordinary, and it’s a key part of what makes the tournament so special. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that passion reflected in such strong economic impact figures. As we look ahead to CPL 2025, we are committed to continuing our support for the Federation and driving even greater economic benefits.”
The CPL continues to cement its status as a premier sporting and cultural event in the region, bringing with it increased visitor spending, global media coverage, and enhanced international recognition. St Kitts & Nevis stands out as a prime example of how sport and tourism can work hand-in-hand to deliver sustained economic value.
