CPL DRIVES MAJOR ECONOMIC GROWTH IN SAINT LUCIA WITH US$22.4 MILLION BOOST

The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) delivered a significant economic uplift to Saint Lucia in 2024, generating a total impact of US$22.4 million - a remarkable 21% increase over the previous year. This outstanding growth not only underscores the tournament’s powerful role in driving tourism and economic activity but also coincides with a historic moment for the island, as the Saint Lucia Kings were crowned CPL champions for the first time.
In 2024, four CPL matches were hosted at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, alongside vibrant live music performances under the Live & Louder event brand. These concerts brought an added dimension to the fan experience, enhancing the overall appeal of CPL festivities in Saint Lucia.
The economic impact study, conducted by GSIQ, CPL’s official Media and Sponsor Evaluation Partner, assessed the value created through organizer and attendee spending, as well as the global media exposure generated through broadcast and social media coverage that showcased Saint Lucia as a premier travel destination.
Pete Russell, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League, commented on the success:
“It was incredibly exciting to debut the Live & Louder concerts in Saint Lucia - they were a resounding success. It’s particularly special to see a significant increase in the tournament’s economic contribution to the island in the same year the Saint Lucia Kings lifted their first CPL title. This truly highlights the powerful synergy between sport, entertainment, and economic growth.”
As the CPL continues to grow in scale and influence, its ability to attract international attention and boost regional economies remains stronger than ever. Saint Lucia, in particular, is seeing tangible returns through heightened tourism, elevated global visibility, and enhanced cultural engagement.
